Name: Mitch Lyons
Favourite way of saying Hello: Hey little buddy!
Lives at: Brisbad
First Downhill Ride I was TWELVE years old
I am now TWENTY-ONE Years old
Current bike: Iron Horse Sunday
Bikes name: Her, as in chuck "Her" in the ute.
Dream bike: Most DH frames these days are pretty awesome. It's more of a "dream build" I want.
Favourite 3 Australian Queensland trails:
Overseas trail I want to ride the most: Hafjell in Norway and a bunch of stuff in Germany
Pet Goats Name: Billy
Scariest Downhill moment: Hmm... probably my most recent crash at Tambo. I hadn't ridden it in a long time and completely overcompensated on the bottom gap. I knew as soon as I took off I was in big sh*t. I put a massive graze on my shoulder and my upper back is still stiff so fingers crossed it heals up soon. I honestly thought I was going to rip my collarbone off when I was flying towards this tree. A mate following behind did the exact same thing but managed to land in my lap - he busted his kneed up pretty bad in the process though.
Best race results so far: Probably when I was a lot younger and getting top 10's in U17 and qualifying for U19's. I had a couple of years out of the scene and I'm still working my way back up the timing sheet.
Sponsors: My unfortunate bank account.
What do you really want someone to say to you one day ? A Norwegian, German or French (sounds like the start of a joke) downhill chick to ask me to marry them and spend our lives riding/racing across Europe.
Racing or riding with friends ??? Hmm... I'm gonna go with racing by a tiny bit. The adrenaline is just a tad higher.
Food that makes me chuck: Boring tasteless stuff that my mum cooks (sorry mum!) a lot of the time because her palette is about as developed as a rock's. Can't complain too much - I get fed and I cook my own yummy stuff when it gets too much.
Food that makes me smile: Salmon with my friend's special marinade. Veldig Bra!
Best downhill tip for newbies: Have a go! Take it easy to start with and listen to the advice that other experienced riders may give you.
Best downhill tip for experienced riders: Let me catch up - you're going too fast.
Best bike mod ever made: For a long time it was the E13 DRS for me. Obviously technology in general has made all aspects of bikes utterly incredible and it just keeps getting better but for me my biggest fascination has been Disc Brakes.
Who do you like to beat the most ? Cocky squids. I like to let my wheels do the talking.
Biggest injury and how: Gravel rash to face and a broken wrist. I was riding the local crappy BMX track and I somehow fell over the bars on a 4ft high tabletop. I was 14 I think. Still don't know how I crashed.
Favourite Australian Downhill site: www.downhilldownunder.com (aw c'mon farkin was/is alright sometimes)
Favourite way of saying goodbye: I just wanted to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you
